I have
had the pleasure of teaching at Ferndale for nearly two
years now, and as you are probably aware, I had a full head
of hair when I first started teaching there.
Teaching in Ferndale has been a challenge for me as an
instructor, but I hope I have passed on some of my knowledge
to the students who have stayed there through thick and
thin, especially my seniors. Thank you, keep coming, you
make my class!
For
those who are unaware, I also share my class with Sensei
Emma Robins, who teaches there on a Tuesday. Emma's a great
instructor and hard as nails! She tends to teach with more
finesse than myself. I tend to teach more rough and tumble.
( Sorry Graham and Eddie, who tend to take the brunt of my
demo's!)
Recently things have taken a turn for the worse in the Arts
Factory, and I found my class being cut from their budget,
leaving us with no class on a Friday! We looked around
Ferndale for a suitable venue, and finally found 'Our Lady
of Penrhys' Church.
Our
opening night was Friday 1st October 2004, and went well. We
went out and about in Ferndale spreading the word with our
flyers and posters, and Teresa needs a special mention after
receiving a dog bite while posting a leaflet through a door.
After a Tetanus and stitches we were back to it!
I am
hoping this class will prosper, and all my students, new and
old will support me in my new venue, and will remind
students to train twice weekly. This is the only way they
can develop themselves properly.
