3 Bronze Medals at the British Karate Federation Championships

BKF Championships

What a weekend.....

Over the past few months we as a Squad have been Tirelessly Training and Preparing for the British Karate Federation Championships. This is the most Prestigious Event held in Britain.... I cannot stress enough this is THE BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIPS..... and to go through 1 or 2 Rounds or Medal at these Championships is Amazing, especially for such a Young Squad.....

Every Single Squad Member Competed to their best ability and raising to the occasion with a few missing out on a Medal....

Results:

Kiera Lewellyn - Bronze Medal

Stuart Smith - Bronze Medal

Luke Richards - Bronze Medal

BKF Championships

I have to say we are all so proud of EVERYONE who went to the British Championships and represented the WSKO....

The weekend started at the pick up point 'Tonyrefail Leisure Centre' bright and early at 7am... We had a great coach supplied by MainLine Coaches with a massive thank You to Cath Emry for sorting this out for us...

Around 5pm we arrived at our Accommodation the 'Inn Keepers Lodge', I have to say it was very nice. After a quick shower and change of clothes we all met in the 'Toby Carvery' which was attached to the accommodation.... I have never in my life seen such big Yorkshire Puddings, but of course we managed to eat them and most having a Super Sized Meal....

We spent the next few hours in our very own area relaxing and enjoying the company and of course we had a few beers....

Championship Day

We woke early for Breakfast, some of us were a bit worse for weather i think it was the 'Yorkshire Puddings', well thats what Im putting it down to.

We approached the Emirates Stadium which is such a Spectacular Stadium, and I think the reality hit home for some, nerves were certainly setting in....

I took the Officials to get Checked In whilst Sensei Gerwyn and Annette took the Competitions to Register.

Unfortunately I had quite a few meetings booked through the day and couldn't stay down on the Competition Floor, Sensei Gerwyn and Sensei Luke Richards took the Squad to Warm Up..

BKF Championships

The Event started with Kata and Stuart Smith did us proud by competing very well against the overall winner of the Disability Kata, to finally take Bronze Medal.

The rest of the Squad one by one got up and fought in their respective categories, I have watched most of the fights back on video and an so proud of everyone.

Our Little Pocket Rocket Kiera Llewellyn and Luke Richards fought fantastic and eventually took Bronze Medal....

BKF Championships

This has been a Massive Boost for our Squad and also Stuart Smith and Luke Richards who are traveling to Bremen in Germany this November to Represent Wales at the WKF Senior World Championships, which is held over 5 Days...

I have to say the support from the Squad and the Parents was amazing staying at the Stadium until our very last competitor competed..

We arrived back to the hotel for yet another fantastic night night with some great company.... I won't go into details of the night as some of it was 'Carnage'...... This of course was the result of too much to eat and not the beer !!!!

BKF Championships

I have been away so many times with my Karate Career, to probably Every Corner of the World, but I can honestly say I haven't had such a fantastic time as I have on this one.... I have some great memories that I will keep forever....

We as a Squad will always attend the British Championships , but there is already talk of this being Yet Another Annual Event For All..

Thank you everyone who came and made is such a Memorable Trip, to all the Squad who are just AMAZING.... To all the parents for their support which really does make a difference when they are competing... to Sensei Gerwyn and Sensei Luke for brilliant coaching.... And last but not least Annette for organising the WHOLE TRIP.....
